Review of The Last Princess and The Cup Of Immortality on Dark Wyrm Reads.

When Vivienne Le Faye, a sixteen-year-old, with intuitive powers inherits a priceless family amulet, she becomes an instant target.

Unaware of her noble heritage, the family curse haunts her, while danger threatens her, and a mysteriously handsome boy with golden eyes appears to protect her.

Convinced he’s real and exists somewhere and positive she has fallen irretrievably in love with him, Vivienne bravely follows her ‘gift of sight’ to England where her Amulet allows her passage through a Portal of Mists.

There, in a mystical world of witchcraft and wizardry, where many perils await her, she discovers he is an immortal Wizard with supernatural powers and she is the last Princess of the Misty Isle, destined to become the next Lady of the Lake.

Called to battle, to fulfill her birthright and armed with her new gifts of war craft and spell craft, together they must confront a terrifying enemy, the Master of the Souls, so that Vivienne can save their Magical World and allow the Misty Isle to rise again.

My View
The Last Princess and the Cup of Immortality is a type of story I haven't seen in awhile. It's a story where the author lets her imagination run free and creates an entirely new world populated by fantastic creatures.

It starts out like any other conventional urban fantasy story - Vivienne is a normal teen girl living in the normal, real world - but fate has other plans for her destiny and she soon finds herself drawn to a realm forgotten by, and separated from, our world.

This new realm is populated by a myriad of characters and creatures; some good, some not, and the explanation of how the two worlds used to be one and why they're now separated is probably one of the best explanations I've discovered in fantasy fiction.

Vivienne, being a normal girl, is our anchor in the story and we live the adventure through her eyes, experiencing the new wonders and feeling the fears and tension connected with her destiny as if we were in the story ourselves.

If you're looking for a good book that's more fantasy than paranormal, then I'd suggest you give
The Last Princess and the Cup of Immortality a try.

The Last Princess and The Cup of Immortality Review on Best Fantasy Stories!

Title: The Last Princess and the Cup of Immortality
Author: D. R. Whitney
Release Date: November 1, 2009
Pages: 374 pages
Genre: Epic Fantasy
Best Book Quote: “Vivienne drifted above the desperate scene until the warmth of strong arms embraced her. The handsomest young man she had ever seen with black hair and the most penetrating golden eyes, was comforting her as he held her in the fine wool of his purple cloak.”
Imagine a girl who dreams of a handsome boy with golden eyes. In the dreams, he is madly in love with her and shows her places so beautiful she cannot believe they are real. But real they are and with this, you have the makings of a great new teen fantasy series, The Last Princess and the Cup of Immortality by D. R. Whitney. This is the story of Vivienne Le Faye, a normal American 16-year old girl who lives in a boarding school in Manhattan. Her grandmother has recently died, leaving her an orphan. She inherits a family heirloom, a beautiful ruby necklace, and immediately begins to have vivid dreams of a golden eyed boy who professes his eternal love for her. The hardest part for her to believe is that the dreams are also telling that her she is the Lady of the Lake, the last princess of an alternate world.
This alternate world is filled with magic and mystery but absolutely no technology. Her dreams tell her that evil people are coming for her and Vivienne is determined to find out what the heck is really going on – it seems her dreams are saying that if she does find her way back to the fantasy world then both her world and theirs are going to end. What is a sixteen year old girl to do with all that responsibility? The only thing she knows for sure is that the golden eyed boy is there for her and she must find him.
D.R. Whitney has crafted a wonderful fantasy world where any adult or teenager can lose themselves in magic and wonder. It is a wide-ranging story filled with mystery, eternal love, and the fulfillment of a destiny that has waited thousands of years to reach culmination. This is a tremendous treat for any fantasy lover and I am especially pleased by the author’s ability to draw the reader into her spell and keep us wanting more.

Join D.R. Whitney and The Goddess Prophecies Team at The LA Times Festival of the Books.

With the recent release of book one on Amazon and the Barnes and Noble online bookstore "The Last Princess and the Cup of Immortality", Whitney's highly original new fantasy series is being described as the next "Twilight" or "Harry Potter". In addition to the launch of her first novel which publishing elite John Paine has described as "beautifully crafted", D.R. Whitney is continuing to change the way that we experience fantasy with her creation of the Goddess Prophecies audio movie book. The audio movie book allows the listener to be transported to another world in which they can fully immerse themselves into the magical story of The Last Princess. "A Motion Picture for your ears" if you will "Riveting. Suspenseful. Romantic. Blockbuster Perfection".. Not only has the audio book been praised for the "movie-like audio experience with exciting narration, sweeping music" which utilizes an amazing score and hollywood actors, it is challenging and raising the bar in the world of fantasy entertainment. So much so that Whitney has been attracting much interest from Hollywood filmmakers and is now in the process of transforming the magical realms of avilon into a big screen feature.

First stop on our adventure to exciting and enchanting new lands will be the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books taking place on April 24th - 25th at UCLA. The two day event will feature a full cast line up with each member playing a host of characters. Be prepared to hear Movie Magic at this one of a kind event. Meet the Cast, live performances, get your book signed by the author, have a psychic reading with the new Goddess Prophecy Cards, meet our Hollywood actors and enjoy the characters in costume.. There is also a chance to Enter the Drawing for a Free iPod Shuffle at the Booth. If you do decide to join us at the Festival of Books Booth 758 Zone G, we would love to provide bloggers with a chance to meet the voices behind the characters, meet up with the author for the inside scoop on the adventure to come and even possibly joining us on the fantasy radio network in the future.
Hope to see you there!
